Moderco Distributor

Operable Partitions and Moveable Wall Systems in Florida

Bell Architectural Specialties is the official Moderco distributor for Florida, providing operable wall systems with full installation and ongoing service support.

Operable Walls

What Are Operable Partitions?

Operable partitions are large, moveable wall panels that slide along a ceiling track to divide a single room into two or more separate spaces.

  • Flexible Room Division for Commercial Buildings

When not in use, the panels stack compactly against a wall or inside a storage pocket. When deployed, they create a solid barrier that provides visual privacy and acoustic separation. These systems are engineered for commercial environments where rooms need to change configuration throughout the day, from schools and hotels to convention halls and corporate offices. Unlike folding partitions or accordion doors, operable walls use individually hinged panels that seal against the floor and ceiling to achieve high Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings.

Product Lines

Moderco Operable Wall Product Lines

Moderco manufactures operable wall systems in a range of panel types, finish options, and track configurations to match any project requirement.

Panel Types

Moderco offers paired panels that operate as a unit for standard room divisions, individual panels for maximum flexibility in large openings, electric motorized panels with push-button operation, and pass door panels with a full-height hinged door built into the partition for pedestrian traffic.

Finish Options

Available finishes include fabric wrapped for conference rooms and hotels, vinyl wrapped for schools and high-traffic areas, wood veneer for premium hospitality and worship spaces, painted steel for industrial environments, whiteboard surfaces for education and training facilities, and glass walls for premium corporate, hospitality, and architectural applications where light transmission and visual openness are required.

Track Configurations

Track options include straight track for standard room division, curved track for irregular room shapes, multi-directional track for rooms that divide in more than one direction, and pocket storage where panels store inside a wall cavity for a clean open look.

Applications

Where Operable Walls Are Used

Operable wall systems are specified in virtually every commercial building type where flexible space is a requirement.

  • Commercial Applications Across Every Industry

Schools and universities use operable walls to convert cafeterias into classrooms and divide gymnasiums for simultaneous activities. Hotels and convention centers depend on operable partitions to reconfigure ballrooms and event spaces. Hospitals and rehabilitation facilities create flexible therapy rooms and conference spaces. Bell has installed Moderco systems at Innovation High School in Orlando, the Marriott Palmetto, and the Bradenton Convention Center.

Acoustics

Acoustics and Sound Control in Operable Walls

One of the primary reasons architects specify operable walls instead of folding partitions is acoustic performance.

  • Understanding STC Ratings and Sound Isolation

Sound performance is measured using the Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating system. STC 45-49 provides basic speech privacy for offices and classrooms, STC 50-54 delivers strong sound isolation for conference rooms and hotel meeting spaces, and STC 55+ achieves premium acoustic separation for convention halls and performing arts centers. Moderco systems cover the full commercial STC range to match project specifications. Bell’s installation crews set top and bottom seals to manufacturer tolerances, which is critical for achieving the specified STC performance.

Installation

Operable Wall Installation Process

Bell manages the entire operable wall installation process so general contractors have a single point of contact for this specialty scope.

  • Turnkey From Specification Review to Final Inspection

Our process begins with a specification review to confirm panel count, track layout, finish selections, and STC requirements. Bell then prepares shop drawings for architect approval, coordinates Moderco manufacturing and delivery timing with the GC’s schedule, and deploys factory-trained crews to install the ceiling track, hang and adjust each panel, set seals, and test the full system for smooth operation and acoustic performance. We walk the completed installation with the GC, address punch items, and provide operating instructions to the building owner.

Service and Repair

Operable Wall Repair and Maintenance

Operable walls require periodic maintenance to perform correctly, as seals wear down, track hardware loosens, and panels can fall out of alignment with regular use.

  • Keep Your Moveable Wall Systems Running Smoothly

Bell provides repair and maintenance services for Moderco systems and other operable wall brands throughout Florida. Common service calls include replacing worn seals, realigning panels that stick or drag, repairing damaged panel faces, servicing electric operator motors, and lubricating track hardware. Bell’s technicians are factory-trained on Moderco systems and carry common replacement parts on their service vehicles. For non-Moderco systems, we assess the brand and model, source the correct parts, and complete the repair.
